Julie Hutchison and Jan Sargent have over 50 years experience in organisational management and managing teams in both business and public sector environments. From the minute they met they had great respect for their complementary experience and skills and realised that there was a synergy that created an opportunity to create something really special and help more businesses to develop the mindset and skills they need to grow profitably and productively.

It’s all about hearts and minds. Engagement of staff is paramount. When people’s minds are engaged through interesting and stretching work and you can give them your heart because you care about them as people, then you will inspire them to follow your lead with as much passion as you have. They will be enthusiastic about what the company wants to achieve and will be happy to play their part in that success. Productivity rises and, in their turn, so will profits.
So, you see, it all starts from the top. Nobody wants to follow a leader who lacks focus and direction and has little integrity or charm. And we can help a ‘leader’, any leader, to become the best version of themselves that they can be.
I spent 16 years in the police service as an Inspector and also have a commercial and manufacturing engineering background with Black & Decker and British Bakeries. This gives me an unusual blend of personal skills, coupled with down to earth, proactive results driven focus. I value honestly, simplicity and practicality so this is what you will get!
There is no more important place to ensure good relationships than in a high stress environment like the police and that is what led me to train as a performance coach in 2009 and additionally as a workplace mediator within the police, dealing with conflict situations within the workplace and the impact of them on individuals and teams. I then began to work with managers who were new to leadership or were struggling to have the kind of positive impact on their team they needed. After seeing some fantastic leadership and some really dire attempts at people management I began to realise that there needed to be a more down to earth, practical approach to Leadership and performance. This lead to the creation of the Team Performance Engine™ philosophy and approach in developing Leaders and their teams.
Because of my passion for people and what makes us tick, I have developed my skills with further qualifications in NLP, Workplace Mediation, DiSC and Talent Dynamics Behavioural Profiling, along with my existing Performance Coaching qualification. In 2015 this led me to being awarded The Coaching Academy “Executive Coach of the Year” at The International Coaching Awards.
I am also a Speaker Coach and Mentor, having trained with the Professional Speakers Academy.
I have experience in business from multi-nationals to small family run businesses in sectors such as banking, insurance, commercial, leisure, retail, education, professional services and charity. As a senior manager with strategic and operational responsibilities, my experience in dealing with the challenges of making things happen through people has served me well. I have also run my own successful independent HR Consultancy which coupled with the strategic and operational experience has given me an excellent platform to support businesses with their own challenges in growth. I love working on tricky projects with employers and clients and understand the importance of maximising the performance of people for the benefit of them and the business whilst minimising risk.
I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and also a member of the Chartered Institute of Managers. People are fascinating to me and so I have developed expertise in tools such as Everything DiSC ™ personality profiling tool and the 5 Behaviours of a Cohesive Team ™ team development tool which I find invaluable in helping leaders and teams progress.
