I don’t know about you but I love watching Strictly Come Dancing – and seeing how the celebrities pick up new skills week by week and end up (those in the finals anyway) looking as good as their professional dance partners.
But I never thought it would happen to me.
And I never thought it would change my business. Let me explain. You see Strictly is coming to Salisbury on March 10th, Ian Waite and Kristina Rihanoff are hosting a event to raise funds for Salisbury Hospice Charity and the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust.
And that’s where we come in. No – we aren’t going to watch. Ronnie and I are one of the 10 couples dancing and ‘ being judged’. And we are proud to say we have reached our target on our Just Giving Page – but you can still donate now if you like here.
Ronnie and I have been in training – at our own pace – for months. You see – I couldn’t do what the celebrities do and train for 5 or 8 or even 2 hours a day 5 days a week. That wouldn’t suit either of our lifestyles or my business.
It’s been hard and we have sometimes felt like giving up – in fact the other day Ronnie thanked me for putting up with him “dancing like a piece of cardboard”. However, what made it easier it that we have had a coach who understands our limitations and constraints, and we have been able to take this at our own pace, at times that suited us.
And that made me think.
You know – in business training is very important, but it is often difficult to get the time to do it in the working day, or at the “appointed time”. Sometimes it is impossible to let your managers or key players go away from the business for a few days – or even one day – to do training, even though you know they need it.
And so – I had a revelation when speaking to a niche market, national organisation about their management training needs. And we designed an online Leadership coaching and training programme for them, to launch their leaders.
I am SO excited about it. We have some BIG names signed up to this programme and it is going so well that we are going to be rolling it out nationally to all kinds of businesses later this year. We will be calling it the Leaders Launchpad Mastermind Programme, and it is perfect for all sizes of business – but especially small businesses where you can’t release people for external training, or where your people would prefer to work at THEIR OWN pace.
Giving people the ability to access this stuff in their own time, and wherever they are, but still be supported by coaching and have a group of like minded people to bounce off – seemed to us to be the way to go.
If you want to be part of testing this out before the main launch later this year – email me on [email protected] and just put – beta testing in the subject line and I will contact you with more details about how you can get involved.
Oh – and wish us luck for the 10th. Keeeep Dancing!
